Along with a team of other educators, scholars, and community leaders, I supported the development of a Cambodian American Model Curriculum as part of the California Assembly Bill 167 by creating teaching strategies and lesson plans, and presenting at conferences to advance Cambodian American Studies. I created the open-sourced lesson plans for K-12 teachers on “Cambodian American Memory Work” and “Cambodian Popular Music”. Alongside 3 other panelists, we presented on “Shifting from Deficit Models Towards a Community Responsive and Cultural Wealth Teaching Pedagogy” (PPT slides forthcoming).
